South Florida Tour
Miami - Everglades and the Florida Keys

 (Thu – Sun) 4 days / 3 nights

Join us in our first South Florida Tour.

On this tour we will NOT include the airfare, this gives you the flexibility to fly in days before or stay longer to extend your vacation or maybe use your own frequent flyer points.

We have planned an itinerary which is mostly active and adventure based, since we figure that you don’t need a guided tour to lay on the beach. We have chosen October for this trip since it should be cool enough for doing activities outside, but still warm enough to swim and snorkel.

TOUR START

The tour will start from Miami International Airport at xxxx. This will give you an opportunity to fly in from NYC with an early flight on the same day, or whenever you wish before.

Please note though that if you are not at the pickup location in Miami Airport at 11 am, you would either have to take a taxi or Uber yourself to our hotel in the evening and you will miss the first day’s activities without any compensation or refund for this. The exact pickup location in Miami Airport will be given later.

Everglades National Park

Everglades National Park is a 1.5-million-acre wetlands preserve on the southern tip of Florida. Often compared to a grassy, slow-moving river, the Everglades is made up of coastal mangroves, sawgrass marshes and pine flatwoods that are home to hundreds of animal species. Among the Everglades' abundant wildlife are alligators, turtles, Florida panthers and Manatees. We will visit different areas of the Everglades and you will have options of different activities.

We will all experience a classic air boat ride, where the captain/guide will show us around a help us find wildlife.

At the place where they have air boat ride, they usually have a wildlife show as well.

We will also visit one part of the Everglades where you can rent a bike and ride on a 7.5 miles paved path next to a canal full of wildlife.

At the end of the trail there is a 65-ft tall observation tower where you can search for more wildlife. (If you bike all the way to the tower and back it will be a 15 miles bike ride)

Here are some photos of wildlife all taken by the bike path

If you don’t like to bike, you can also book a 2 hours guided tram ride.

The bike and tram are additional costs (Bike $22, tram $28)
The bike and tram ride can be reserved in advance through this link: RESERVE BIKE or TRAM
(You need to reserve for xxxxxx and for the Tram you need to reserve a xxxx am departure time)

And of course you also have the option of walking the path instead.

We will explore a few boardwalk trails in different parts of the Everglades as well.

We will also visit a few visitor centers. Here is a view from one of the visitor centers

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park

We will visit the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, this is a breathtaking Gilded Age estate on the Biscayne Bay, surrounded by ten acres of formal gardens and a mangrove shoreline. It is the former villa and estate of businessman James Deering. The estate was built between 1914 and 1922.

Be inspired by Vizcaya’s natural beauty, connect with Miami’s past and discover this unique cultural and historic gem. Today Vizcaya is a National Historic Landmark owned by the Miami-Dade County, and will offers an experience to delight your senses.

Venetian Pool

We will visit the Venetian Pool, this is a historic public swimming pool built in 1924. The pool was created from a 4 acres old coral rock quarry which was abandoned in 1921. The pool was created in Mediterranean Revival style and named for the Mediterranean city of Venice, Italy, the pool included a Venetian style bridge and classic mooring pillars. In 1981, Venetian Pool was added to the National Register of Historic Places, and is the only pool listed on the register.

The 820,000 gallon pool is fed with spring water from an underground aquifer. In the spring and summer seasons, the pool is filled and drained daily. The pool is the largest fresh water pool in the US. The pool ranges in depth from four feet to over eight feet, there are two waterfalls that provide a scenic backdrop as well as the cave-like grottos which provide a fun experience for swimmers.
