We will first drive to Putnam County where we will hike to the tallest existing fire tower in New York State by Nimham Mountain. The fire tower is 90 feet tall and sits 1340 ft in elevation.
Rarely will you be rewarded with such stunning views with a relative small effort. The hike to the tower is an relatively easy 1.5 miles (roundtrip) on a wide gravel road.
The tower was recently restored in 2005 and from the top you can on a clear day see to the south to New York City, west to the Catskills and north to the Taconics and Berkshire Mountains.
We will then drive north to Dutchess County. Here you will experience an informative and enriching tour of Millbrook Winery. The winery was called "The Hudson Valley's flagship winery" by the New York Times.
The tour will leave you with an insider's view of the entire wine making process, from careful tending of the vineyards to the Winemaker's art of vinification.
The wine tour is capped off with a complete and informative tasting of current vintage Millbrook wines. The Wine Tasting includes a sampling of six different wines. (Minimum age 21 years old for the Wine Tasting)
We will enjoy a lunch by the Millbrook Winery, sit by one of the ponds and enjoy the natural surroundings.
